The seed of Vidyalankar was sown on the auspicious day of Dussehra in October 1960, when the visionary founder Prof. Chandrashekhar S. Deshpande launched his own A.M.I.E. classes in a rented class room. The inspiration behind the inception of Vidyalankar was the dedication of oneself to sincere academic pursuit and to satisfy the quest for knowledge in eager young minds. Vidyalankar Classes and Publications (incepted in 1960) has an emphatic presence in academic circles across Mumbai, Maharashtra and nationwide; and has won a number of prestigious awards for excellence in coaching and franchising. In 1974, Vidyalankar secured its own premises at Dadar, Mumbai.

Guided and inspired by Prof. Deshpande’s vision and his dedicated efforts, Vidyalankar has grown steadily over the years by establishing three colleges

Vidyalankar Institute of Technology in 1999 which offers doctorate, postgraduate and undergraduate courses in Engineering and Management and is affiliated to the University of Mumbai.

Vidyalankar School of Information Technology in 2002 which offers postgraduate and undergraduate courses in Science, Commerce and Management and is affiliated to the University of Mumbai.
